Does anyone else in the world have laundry as their nemesis? (Please say yes.) My mom is great at laundry, she always has been. She washes a load, hears the beep from three rooms away and jumps to dry it, fold it and put it away.
Me.....um.....not so much. I put in a load, forget that I did and still find it sitting there in the afternoon (or the next morning---ugh). Or the other story of my life is---do one load, put it in to dry, take another load out and put it on the loft couch and then let it sit there. And sit. And sit. Add another load on top. And rinse and repeat. ARghhhh...
Laundry and I are not quite friends yet.....but I have learned one thing that has made my life a little easier.
ALL WHITE TOWELS. AND BEDDING.
(not my picture....mine are a bit wrinkly at the moment so enjoy these beautiful ones)
But you might want to try it.....it's so much easier. They are easier to clean, easier to replace--white is white, and easier to get rid of one towel without messing up an entire set when one towel has lived its good little life.
I have white dishcloths (my mom's crochet-kind that I can't live without), all white hand towels, all white bath towels and all white bedding. And once a week, all the white towels get put into one big hot water wash with oxiclean (or borax) to bring them back to whiteness....and life is good again. (Not that they get folded right away....but hey, I'm trying.) And if they are really stained, then they go into a bleaching tub out in the sunny backyard. And I am always amazed at how white they get again.
Now. For me, it's back to the laundry......who someday may become my friend.

Yes, I'm a huge fan of all-white towels and linens! I love me some bleach. The kids' stuff is multicolored, but everything my hubby and I use is white. I just like the look of it, too. Very spa-like.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more. We just made the switch to all white and I could not be happier. I love opening my closet to a sea of all white instead of mismatched blotchy bleached horribleness. This is for sure my favorite trick. White Brite works like a charm to restore whiteness as well. Kind of a weird smell, but goes away in the wash.
ReplyDeleteI am a bad housekeeper but pretty good at washing. We hang everything on the line here. In Summer I love to see all that clean cotton flapping in the breeze. Right now it's Winter and it's been raining for four days...and it's the school holidays. Not enjoying it SO much. May have to give up and use the dryer soon. We have all green towels. I used to have all white towels but hate what makeup- and soccer (!)- does to the facecloths. Serious question- do you not find that a dryer makes all your cotton knits (tees, trackies etc) go short and wide?
ReplyDeleteP.S. How is Gabe's arm?
