This is such a fun look, and so easy!
As promised, here is the tutorial for Gabe's triangle shirt.
You'll need:
Freezer paper
Ruler
Exacto knife
3 different colors of fabric paint
Sponge paint brush
Iron
First I used my ruler to draw parallel diagonal lines. Then I drew diagonal lines going the other direction. Then I drew perpendicular lines so I had triangles.
With an exacto knife I cut out the triangles.
I put the freezer paper triangles, shiny side down, side by side on the tee shirt. Then I ironed them in place. (As you can probably tell I made this tee from scratch, but you can do it with any old white tee.)
I used a spongy paint brush to sponge on the paint. I used the same paint brush for each color. I did the lightest first, then the darker, then the darkest. The effect is a slightly marbled finish. If you want crisp, uniform triangles, wash your paint brush whenever you switch colors.
Then I waited for it to dry. That is the WORST! I just wanted to see what it was going to look like!
When it was finally dry I peeled off the triangles and Ta-Da! Make sure that after you peel off the freezer paper you cover the painted part with a piece of muslin and press it with the iron. The heat will seal it.
I love this shirt paired with salmon shorts and a fedora, but it looks equally good with board shorts at the beach! If you make this I would love to see photos!
