Challenge excepted!

Edit: To see how I refashioned my thrift store pieces go HERE. For my tutorial for the ruffled tanks go HERE. For how I made the one shoulder ruffle tank go HERE. The ruffled skirt tutorial can be found at No Big Dill HERE.

The Challenge: Could one blogger make an entire Summer wardrobe on a
very tight budget and very limited time out of repurposed/re-imagined/refashioned items?

The Budget: $50.00

The Plan: Troll thrift stores, take my friends' accessory cast-offs and shop in my own closet to create a wardrobe with which I could dress for 30 days without ever duplicating an outfit.

Results:

How much did I spend?
3 thrift store dresses at 3.99 each: 11.97
3 yards of fabric from the thrift store sheet bin: 1.99
2 thrift store sheets: 1.99
Swap Party: 19.24
Ruffle Fabric: Bartered

All other materials on hand

Total Cost: $35.19

What I made:
4 ruffle tops
3 dresses
1 ruffle skirt

What I refashioned:
Turned long black pants into shorts
Turned blah jeans into sexy skinny jeans
Turned a thrift store dress into a cute skirt
Turned a thrift store dress into turquoise capris
Turned a thrift store dress into a polka dot shirt

Woot Woot! Here are my month's worth of outfits:

(please excuse the wrinkles, I barely had time to dress and re-dress the mannequin 30 times, let alone iron!)

Stay tuned tomorrow for fantastic tutorials from guest bloggers, and June 10 a linky party and a great GIVEAWAY!

  2. Fabulous!! I love how you accessorized with the belts and jewelry. Such a good reminder to me that I don't need a whole new wardrobe- I can change it up with accessories. Nice work! You will be one well-dressed chica!
