Sharpie Shoes!

When I was a kid, I dreamed of coloring on my shoes with marker. Looking back, I probably could have asked my parents and they probably would have let me, but I never thought to ask. When Jessica from Happy Together said she got some keds-ish shoes for $3 at Walmart I knew I had to fulfill that dream today!
I may have gone a little overboard:

But come on! 12 pairs of shoes for 36 bucks? I had to. I also bought some puff paint and some fabric markers. All together each pair of shoes will still cost under $5. SCORE!
I finished this pair for Caroline in about 30 minutes.
I basically doodled in black sharpie and then colored it in with the fabric markers. I think they came out pretty nice!
One down, eleven to go!

  1. This makes me laugh. I used to draw on my shoes with marker in middle school.

  3. My daughter likes this idea. Do the shoes need to be heat set in case they get caught in the rain?

    1. It has been 2 years and many rain storms since I made these and I can honestly say that mine have not bled if they got wet. Sharpies has come out with a new fabric marker and I highly recommend those, the colors stay vibrant and there is absolutely no bleeding!

  4. My daughter let her friends help design her pair of shoes. The shoes turned out really cute and very unique.
