I was inspired by Alexis at
My Mama Made It to make myself a new dress. I have several pieces of clothing that I've never worn because I shop a lot online (3 kiddos!) and if they don't fit or don't look good I'm usually too lazy to return them. So here is the story of one such item.

This is a strapless navy blue dress that fit me but had ripples and weird puckers all over the place.

This was a beautiful sweater when I bought it but I wore it when I was pregnant and it was never quite the same after that. (Sorry I kept forgetting to take pictures before I cut, but you get the idea.)

I cut the skirt off of the dress and tried it on to see if I could get away with not using a zipper.

Then I cut a scoop neck on the sweater and cut the sleeves off. Already a vast improvement!
The back of the dress had this:

So I decided to cut that into strips and use them!

With a little fray check they made a very cute finishing for the sweater. Then I added a fabric flower for a finishing touch! Then I cut the bottom of the sweater off and sewed the skirt to it. When I sewed the skirt on I used Alexis'
technique to make a casing for a draw string, but then I decided the skirt fabric was too flimsy to seam rip so I put elastic in the casing instead. I love it!

Ta-Da!
So cute!!!!! I really love it!
